Thought I’d share this fun…

Thought I’d share this fun one. Yesterday at Fat Cat Fab Lab, NYC’s homegrown hackerspace, I took part in a bitcoin node running beginner’s workshop, hosted by Harrison Friedes and Jeffrey.

Attendee engagement was strong, and there were a lot of questions, some as basic as what a server is and how to choose an operating system, why bitcoin has a supply limit, or if running Lightning would raise their electricity bill. Someone even brought an ASIC with them.

The first hour or so focused on the basics of choosing the right hardware and setting up a Start9 system. At the end I showed how to turn a barebones Raspberry Pi into an Alby Hub to run self-custodial Lightning.

As a result, there’s a new addition to the nostr:npub1fatcattmpaw2qfpjdgfq3g84cjlq7lu97846lgctg0heexcdrq3qas6ulg mini shrine. And yes, I tagged them even though the profile isn’t set up yet! (Hint-hint.)

Thanks for inviting me, and I’ll gladly come back anytime!
